Stitches: A New Business Taking Cavell By Storm
It's the time of year when small businesses start blooming at Cavell. Last year there were bookmarks, this year, handmade pillows are all the rage at Cavell. This article features a student-run business that is cream of the pillow making crop.
Firstly, 3 ambitious Grade 7 girls have decided to use their genius hour project as a outlet for good doing. These kind souls are, guess what? Making pillows of course, and selling them to the Cavell community. The best part, 50% of overall profit goes to the Canucks Autism Network and the other 50% goes back to the business, hopefully creating more profit to donate. These girls all have very personal connections to autism and the Canucks Autism Network, “It feels good that I'm helping them,” one of the girls mention when asked about their charity work. Their goal is to donate at least $50.00 to the charity and the number their working towards is around $100.00. Some quick math determines that with overall cost and their profit rule, these girls need to sell around 20 pillows or more to reach their top goal. So that means that, they’ve done their work, it's our turn! We’re calling to the Cavell community to invest in one of these handmade, good quality pillows. Here at the Cavell Monthly we’ve already ordered a custom Cavell Cougars design! For more information email us at cavellmonthly@gmail.com.
